How we operate

Red Dog’s specialised team takes on a limited number of projects to maximise quality control and ensure our dedicated focus on each build. We pride ourselves on our clear communication and transparency and our customers say these are hallmarks of the Red Dog experience.

We are enthusiastic about complex locations and new technologies because we love a challenge and are confident in our technical knowledge. We also love progressive ideas and enjoy the opportunity to adapt our techniques. We put this down to our passion for what we do. Our confidence comes from thorough research and the computer modelling Red Dog creates before we build so we can solve problems before they occur.

Ascan Volckerts – Director

Growing up in a family with a long history in the property and construction sector made Ascan naturally curious and keen to learn more. This led to his tertiary studies in Edinburgh with a focus on design and construction technology.

After finishing his degree in Scotland travel delivered Ascan to Albany, which he describes as the prettiest place on the planet, and where he lives with his wife Tess, two boys Hector and Oscar, Mollie the Collie and Winnie the Whippet.

Meeting Ascan you will be left with no doubt for his strong family values, the importance he places on community and his lifelong passion for design and construction. His love of Albany and its coastal wonderland is inspiring and captivating as is his devotion to his lawn – another topic close to his heart.

Ascan’s qualifications include;

  • BSc (Hons) Building Surveying

  • Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery

  • Diploma of Building and Construction (Builder’s registration)

  • Registered Building Practitioner BP101387

  • Registered Building Contractor BC101144
